There’s nothing like the rush of your favorite team playing for a championship. For many fans, planning a trip to see their favorite team earn a championship victory is a bucket list item. Sports leagues around the world generally have their own year-end tournaments, but the opportunity for global competition only comes around every so often. Worldwide sporting events range from the World Cup, the Olympics, Wimbledon, the Commonwealth Games, to the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
What You Need to Know
The Cricket World Cup takes place every four years. The first Cricket World Cup began in 1975, which makes this year's competition the 12th edition. The upcoming tournament is hosted by the UK and Wales from May 30, 2019 to July 14, 2019. This year is the first time that only 10 teams can qualify for the Cricket World Cup, as the number was scaled down to increase competition.
The 2019 Cricket World Cup has qualified teams from:
- England
- Australia
- South Africa
- India
- New Zealand
- Sri Lanka
- Bangladesh
- Pakistan
